Baywest MallPort Elizabeth
Baywest Mall- The Pulse of the Bay Packed with a comprehensive tenant mix of 250 tenants, compromising of an Ice Rink, 8 Ster-Kinekor Cinemas, Bowling Alley, Games Arcade,a Food Court with a mouth-watering array of restaurants, as well as designer stores to whet the appetite of any keen fashion shopper. The super-regional Baywest Mall is set to be the new go-to attraction in and around Nelson Mandela Bay and will become the shopping destination of preference! It will be a destination for the entire family, with the only ice rink in the Eastern Cape for the young and the young at heart, while next door a state-of-the-art cinema complex will be fitted with top quality design and audio features. There’s not only a store for every taste – including a chic Champagne & Sushi bar to rival those found in London and Paris – there’s also a beautifully landscaped European-styled boulevard where visitors can take in the fresh air in a secure environment before heading back indoors for a bite to eat at their favourite restaurant. High-tech, interactive features mean that mall visitors are able to interact with Baywest online and through a dedicated cellphone app alerting them to sought-after information such as the latest specials and giveaways. All this means that with an estimated 800 000 visitors a month, they won’t just want to pop in, they’ll want to stay for the day. The 91 902m² Baywest Mall is part of the first phase of development of the greater Baywest City Precinct, which is being undertaken by developers the Billion Group and Abacus Asset Management on 320 hectares of land in Port Elizabeth’s western suburbs. DHK Architects, one of the largest and most experienced retail firms in the country have been appointed to deliver and execute the design for the Baywest mall. The overall development will encompass a full range of land uses such as retail, office parks, residential nodes, private schools with associated sporting facilities, hotels, a hospital complex, a motor city, a light industrial precinct and a lifestyle centre. The estimated project value of the development, which will take place over the next 15 to 20 years, is R6 billion and is being funded by Nedbank Corporate. Construction has also started on a new R250 million road infrastructure which will service the western suburbs of Port Elizabeth. The new network will include a full interchange across the N2 highway, which will allow for direct access to Baywest Mall and at the same time alleviate the current traffic congestion experienced in the area.
